10 resources to aid children in learning about and recognizing squares and embedding the concept. Inspired by the book, “Bears love squares”.
Square Identification: Worksheet with various shapes, including squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. Children colour the squares to identify and differentiate them from other shapes. Then write down how many they find.
Square Tracing: Worksheet with dotted square outlines. Children can practice tracing the squares to enhance their fine motor skills and familiarity with the shape.
Counting Squares: 2 worksheets, 1 with multiple squares in a column and one with squares and other 2D shapes. Children can colour and count the number of squares in each column and write down the total count.
Square Patterns: A worksheet with a series of square patterns (e.g., square-circle-square-circle). Children can continue the patterns by drawing the next shapes in the sequence.
Square Sorting: A worksheet with a mix of square and non-square objects. Children can cut out the pictures and sort them into two categories: squares and non-squares.
Square Scavenger Hunt: A worksheet where children search for square-shaped objects commonly found in the classroom or at home. Children can then draw or write down what objects they have found.
Shape Matching: A worksheet where children cut out the 4 shapes and then match them up correctly to the shape within each square.
Square Maze: A worksheet where children follow and colour in the path of squares to help bear find his big square.
Eye-Spy Squares: A worksheet with a mix of square and non-square objects. Children colour the pictures that represent a square.

Math Problem-Solving Boards with Bears
Engaging set of three differentiated boards, each designed to support early learners in mastering addition to 10.
Each board features 10 squares, a number line, and space for math problems, providing a structured framework for children to explore and solve mathematical equations.
The first board includes adorable bear illustrations, strategically placed in some squares, inviting children to color them in with red and yellow.
This visual aid enhances engagement and reinforces the concept of addition through a fun and interactive activity.
The second board omits the bear illustrations, offering a more simplified layout for children who may benefit from reduced visual distraction while focusing on mathematical concepts.
The third board provides versatility, with space for placing counters or bears in each square. This hands-on approach allows children to manipulate objects and develop a deeper understanding of addition and comparison skills.
To further support learning, we’ve included 45 math problems focusing on addition to 10. These problems can be used with any of the three boards, providing ample opportunities for practice and reinforcement.
Whether used in the classroom or at home, our Math Problem-Solving Boards with Bears offer a comprehensive and engaging way for young learners to develop essential math skills while having fun with adorable bear illustrations.
Each worksheet features a different 2D shape, such as squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. Children are challenged to transform the given shape into something else by drawing and altering its appearance.
This activity encourages creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills as children manipulate shapes to create new and imaginative objects.
To support learners at different levels, the set includes two versions of each worksheet. In the first eight worksheets, the name of the shape is provided for reference, allowing children to focus on the transformation task. In the remaining eight worksheets, children must identify and write the name of the shape themselves, reinforcing shape recognition and literacy skills.
These worksheets are perfect for use in early years classrooms, homeschooling environments, or as engaging activities for at-home learning.
They promote critical thinking, spatial awareness, and artistic expression while making learning about shapes fun and exciting for young learners.
